    Description

Picture a young English soldier in 1915.  He is to ship out the next day for the Front in France.  He runs to the nearby stall to pick up the last Manchester Guardian he'll see for some time - if not for the rest of his short life.  As he fumbles in his pocket, he pulls out a penny from his pocket and nonchalantly hands it to the shopkeeper...
Fast forward 125 years later and that very penny *may* be the same one you're about to buy right here right now!

I'm selling not 1 but FIVE British/English/United Kingdom (UK) pence.  What's more is that I've made sure that each of these LIMITED EDITION lots have a penny from 1914, 1915, 1916, 1917, and 1918.   That's what makes this collection so rare and unique.  You have ONE PENNY from each of the years of the First World War (WWI).  While I cannot guarantee that soldiers were handling these coins, if I could go back in time and follow the hands that these coins passed through, I feel like the probability is quite high that there would be stories to tell --- beyond what you can imagine.  And after travelling 125 years, now these coins have a chance end up in your hands.  Touch history itself.  Let your imagination free and own a unique and seldom though-of part of World War One history.
    CONDITION:
I've painstakingly sorted my coins by year to ensure that ever sold lot has 1 Penny from each of the years mentioned (1914-1918).  If you are not familiar with British currency of this era, each coin f
eatures the head/bust of King George V facing left, with the surrounding Latin words on the circumference:  '
    GEORGIVS V DEI GRA:BRITT:OMN:REX  FID:DEF:IND:IMP:
'  This is short for ""
GEORGIVS V DEI GRATIA BRITANNIARUM OMNIUM REX FIDEI DEFENSOR INDIAE IMPERATOR".  Obviously there are too many characters to impress on the actual coin so the shortened version is used.  Roughly translated, this means: "George the Fifth, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India."
This legend was displayed on British coinage between 1911 and 1936 during the reign of King George V.
By long-standing tradition, the legends of ruling British monarchs are rendered in Latin,  On the other side of the coin,
Britannia is seated facing right, wearing a helmet, holding a trident with his hand resting on a shield, with the words '
    ONE PENNY
'  on the circumference and the date (year) below.
These coins are worn from years of handling and use (as most old coins are).  While each coin shows all or most elements, some coins are in better condition than others.  Because each lot is unique, I cannot show photos of every actual coin.  Photos are representative of the same/similar condition of most coins in the multiple lot grouping.  To me personally, the greatest value of these coins comes from the historical era they were minted and used in (Great War) rather than strictly hawkish coin-collecting.  That is why they are in the militaria category rather than the coin category on eBay.   Nevertheless, the pricepoint and value here is incredible.  As soon as I'm sold out of these lots, that's it!
